About me

My teaching philosophy

Teaching should be perceived as someone´s vocation not just as a job. I believe that as educators we should find the ways to inspire curiosity and creativity in every child inside and outside the classroom. Considering that every child is unique and brings a background that should be respected and accepted inside the classroom, it is my responsibility as a teacher to find his / her inner intangible talents planning creative lessons in which every child feels safe and free to explore them – as we know every child doesn´t learn as another one. I´m willing to help students to discover themselves, to accept their differences with others in the group, but what is more important, to be respectful with others and to be respected by others inside and outside the classroom.

Moreover, I believe that the classroom environment is the key to offer students an enjoyable experience in learning. To accomplish this, it is important to analyze the classroom layout as well as the institution working philosophy in order to do my best building a safe place in which they will be willing to spend time learning, and where they can work comfortably.

I consider the classroom like a small community, a place where children spend time and interact with others … a place where they need to feel comfortable and safe to fail and learn from their failures- A place where they are encouraged to live new experiences. In this sense, students need to understand that in every society we must follow certain rules as part of a group.

As teachers, teaching academic content is not the only aspect we might care of, also we constantly transmit values and skills for life. So, teachers should be reliable, creative, supportive, flexible, and caring with every student.

Being reliable with our students means not only be aware of their needs but also to be aware of the teacher's as well. This means that, a teacher has to develop a good sense of understanding of his / her teaching practice and beliefs as well as how those aspects affect student's experiences.

Being creative is an important aspect a teacher should bare in mind, as every student learns differently. So, teachers should constantly evaluate and reflect on their teaching practice, keep on learning and doing research to discover new strategies / methods to make their planning lessons more enrichable and enjoyable for students.

Another aspect that it is important for teacher's job is to be supportive with students, creating a good interaction with his / her students through a honest caring relationship.  Also being flexible is an essential quality when teaching, as our students are human beings with different needs and learning styles.

To sum up, I am conscious that this vocation is a never-ending journey. Therefore, it is necessary to keep myself with an open mind to new ideas, philosophies, strategies to accomplish students' needs and interests in every lesson to make their learning process meaningful.
